Psychometric Properties of the Self-Compassion Scale in the Polish Population

The purpose of the present study was to adapt Self-Compassion Scale (SCS; Neff, 2003) into Polish, examine its validity and reliability, determine population norms for this tool. involved 604 adults (aged 18–85 years, 278 women 326 men), constituting a representative sample Polish in terms gender, age, place residence. adaptation procedure carried out according rules translation, demonstrating fidelity translation original version questionnaire. reliability measurement tested using Cronbach’s alpha internal consistency method test–retest method. assessed by analyzing correlation coefficients between SCS scores intensity mindfulness (understood as trait), resilience, empathic sensitivity with subscales perspective taking, personal distress emphatic concern, level depression anxiety. Measurement stability intraclass applied two consecutive measurements. factor structure verified confirmatory analysis. results showed that has good psychometric properties, emerged indicates best fit specification had model general factors CS (compassionate self-responding) RUS (reduced uncompassionate three specific factors: self-kindness, shared humanity, mindfulness.
